Selected Papers on Optical MEMS
Edited by Victor M. Bright
Victor Bright has produced a useful book entitled "Selected Papers on Optical MEMS." Owning this book has already saved me time looking up articles.
The book starts with a general overview of optical MEMS and MEMS in general. Several introductory papers are from sources like the IEEE Spectrum intended for general audiences. While this group of papers is a bit redundant, they set the stage for the more technical papers that follow.
The book covers a number of topics including surface micromachined optical elements, optical switches, projection displays, deformable mirrors, actuators, spectrometers, fiber optics, light sources, detectors, and optical elements such as gratings, corner cubes and interferometers.
The R&D activity in micro optical devices has increased dramatically in the last few years. For fun, I plotted the histogram shown below of papers published in this book vs. the publication date. As you can see, much of this work is quite recent. This book by Professor Bright makes this research easily available.
"Selected Papers on Optical MEMS" is published by the SPIE Optical Engineering
